VISA APPLICATIONS, TUITION FEES & REFUNDS

With effect from 21st April, students applying for a student visa or an extension through this college are required to take note of the following requirements of the college:

In order to obtain a visa or an extension, students should note the following:

  1. From 12th August 2010, applicants on courses below NQF Level 6 are required to show competence in English to CEFR Level B1 using qualifications such as IELTS (score of 4.0 in all categories), TOEFL, PTE, etc. From 21st April 2011, students applying for courses at level 6 and above require English competence at CEFR Level B2 or IELTS score of 5.5 in all categories.
  2. Have adequate funds to cover 2 months cover of maintenance at £600 per month or 9 months cover if applying from overseas. These funds should be in the student’s account for no less than 28 days
  3. Students applying from overseas will be required to pay full tuition fees for the first year of study before issuance of a CAS. Local students will be required to pay half of their tuition fees and/or any outstanding installments before issuance of a CAS.
  4. Have made progress on their current or previous course. Students should submit to the college their certificates to show that they have the required qualifications for their chosen course of study. These qualifications will then have to be submitted to UKBA on application.
  5. Students applying from overseas should submit original copies of their qualifications to support their applications. These originals will be returned to the student together with a CAS Statement. Alternatively, certified copies can be sent through the college’s agent.
  6. Existing students should have been in full-time education a month prior to application and their course should have lasted at least 6 months. Students should also be applying for a course whose commencement date is no more than one month from the date of application
  7. Have completed a college application form and the correct student visa application form. Please note that UKBA changes application forms from time to time.
  8. Complete application forms in all respects. Inaccurate or incomplete information will lead to a rejection of the application form which will then be labeled invalid.
  9. Have a valid CAS number and Statement issued by the college. A CAS is valid for up to 6 months.

Please note that this college is a Highly Trust Sponsor Licence holder and this should be indicated on the visa application form. The college will do its best to ensure that it complies with its obligation regarding the issuance of a CAS. The visa application process is a student initiative.

TUTION FEES AND REFUNDS

The college will require that students pay half of their tuition fees, or full tuition fees in the case of overseas students as deposit before issuance of a CAS. In the event of the student failing to obtain a visa, then refunds will be effected as follows:

  1. if the student has not complied with UKBA regulations, then £250 will levied against the amount paid to the college.
  2. if the college is at fault, then a £150 administration fee will be levied and the balance of the deposit refunded. This will also apply if both parties are at fault.
  3. If the student commences studies and withdraws from college for what ever reason, then the deposit amount is non-refundable. If full tuition fees had been paid, it would be at the college’s discretion to refund the fees. If fees are to be refunded, the full amount of deposit will be withheld plus fees to cover time of study at the college.
  4. In all cases £100 of the Application fee of £200 is non-refundable as an addition to the above amounts.
  5. Refunds can only be effected upon receipt of a refusal letter from UKBA.
  6. If a student withdraws application before issuance of a CAS or visa, then £250 will be levied against fees already paid to the college.
  7. Where information on Offer Letters differ from the Information given above, then information on the Offer Letter takes precedence.

 

Tuition fees, once paid and course has commenced, are non-refundable except in cases stated above. However tuition fees can be transferred to any other course offered by the college.

Other Information

Overseas students who would have paid a deposit to the college prior to 1st November 2010 are required to top this up to full tuition fees. The college will however continue to use its discretion in issuing CAS numbers to students who paid or will pay deposits for tuition fess.
