LCC Quality Manual
1. Introduction
This Quality Manual has been produced to serve the quality definition and its nature within Lecture Commercial College’s activities. It is a critical component of reference by both students and staff members at the college in their efforts to ensure quality delivery in these activities.
The manual was produced through teamwork by various members of the college. This process ensures ownership of the document by all stakeholders. It provides the basis for future development and continuous improvement of the learning and teaching processes at the college. Various team members of the college committees are available to students and other staff members who need an explanation and advice regarding the contents of the manual.
2. Objectives of the Quality Manual
The manual and other complimentary policies provide a source of information that clearly articulates the college’s position regarding the quality of delivery of teaching and learning activities at the college. Inferences can also be drawn from the manual regarding how the college aspires to satisfy the requirements of external stakeholders and provide a basis for the inspection and audit of the college’s teaching and learning activities by these stakeholders. In the main, this manual has been produced by following and attempting to satisfy the guidelines set out by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) regarding Assurance of Academic Quality and Standards.
3. Coverage
LCC’s Quality Manual covers 11 sections. Each of these sections has other underlying policies and procedure the capture aspects of other policies that support the Quality Assurance at the college. These various areas covered will be of importance to the lecturing team, administrative team and students in varied ways.
4. Further development
Management teams at the college will continuous monitor the relevance of the manual and its various sections to the inevitable changing aspects of quality course delivery at the college. Recommendations will be made by teams to the Quality & Standards Committee for review and revision. Any changes made to the Manual will be informed to all team members and captured in ‘Recent Changes’ on a timely basis.
This process is meant to ensure that their continuous development of both the manual and teaching and learning processes at the college.
5. Compliance with the Quality Manual
The Management Board is responsible for the overall implementation and compliance of staff and students with the contents of this manual. The Management Board is of the view that by complying with this manual, staff members and students are making reasonable attempts to adhere to precepts published by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
At the operational level, the Academic Registrar with the assistance of the Education Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and measurement of compliance.
It is ultimately the responsibility of the college Principal to carry out a yearly review of the college’s practices and determine their alignment with the Quality Manual.

The college will capture excerpts of this manual in some of its publication including:
* The college prospectus
* Website
* Intranet (Virtual)
* Fliers
* Information to Recruitment agents
* Other stakeholders
7. External Reference Points
The Quality Manual attempts, as far as possible to present the college viewpoint, interpretation and alignment of the Quality Manual with the guidelines set out by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
8. Reading the Manual
Attempts have been made to provide the reader with directions to supporting material for the various components of the manual. This will also enable a reader to pick a specific area of interest and home-in on that area with relative ease.
9. Future Work
* The college will continue to work on this manual as it aims to satisfy the guidelines provided by QAA.
* The manual shall be updated by providing useful links to the college website where some of the supporting policy documents are available.
* Staff and students will also be provided with a list of policy documents that are available on the college’s virtual learning environment.
* An annual review of the entire manual will be done.
In the interim revisions and additions to parts of the manual will be highlighted made available on the college website and intranet.
